If you follow me anywhere on social media then I’m sure you’ll already know I’m heading off to the Maldives on my honeymoon. This is pretty much my dream honeymoon destination and somewhere I’m probably likely to only ever go once. Therefore, I’m actually putting a little thought and effort into my packing and I’ve bought some new items for the trip. After being inspired by this post I decided it was okay to spend a little money on looking nice while on our honeymoon despite having spent a lot on staying somewhere nice.
So here are the things I’m buying to look nice and a few fun essentials for a Maldives honeymoon.
Things I’m Buying For a Honeymoon in the Maldives
I already own some nice swimming costumes, however, my bikinis were old and dis-coloured so I decided to update with not one but two new bikinis. It took me a little while to find something that suited my petite shape but I eventually settled on these two. I decided we couldn’t go to the Maldives without two key accessories especially as most hotels will charge for you to hire any equipment. So I’ve purchased a snorkel each and an inflatable each. We are the sort of people that never go on a holiday to do nothing, so I think we will struggle to stop and relax. I’m hoping these extra accessories will help us to relax and enjoy our surroundings without feeling ‘bored’.
I settled on these snorkels and these inflatables, both from Amazon.

I felt like I needed one item that shouted to everyone I was on my honeymoon. I’d seen some gorgeous wife/wifey jumpers but decided they wouldn’t really be practical for the Maldives. Instead I treated myself to another swimming costume that does the job. Let’s be honest when else in your life will you have a chance to wear this kinda thing?
Although the Maldives seems to be quite relaxed with the dress code and you don’t have to dress up for every meal, I thought it would be nice to have something new to wear for dinner. I’ve always loved Joe Browns clothes but never justified the price tag before. Seeing how this is my honeymoon and everything I decided to splash out on one of their gorgeous dresses. I opted for a white cotton dress with a butterfly pattern so will be perfect for the warm weather.
I never buy the fancy toiletries in Boots but sticking with the treat theme I decided to splash out on my favourite shampoo and conditioner. I know the hotel will have some but I find it’s never good enough to get through the knots in my hair. Also, I wanted something I knew would help to protect my hair from all the sea salt and sun. I also picked up some face masks so that I can have a proper pamper session one day.
Aside from water-sports I’m imagining my self lying in the sun and reading a book. So I’ve treated myself to a few new reads for the holiday as recommended by people on Instagram. I’m hoping that the library I’m packing won’t make my suitcase too heavy!
Although most things I read online said you’d spend most of your time barefoot, I decided to grab a pair of pumps for the trip. For starters I need something to travel in and don’t really want to be travelling with excessive amounts of shoes. Secondly, it’s possible we’ll take a day trip to Male so wanted to have something I could walk around the town in if we do. I find sandals just don’t do the job if your walking further than a short stroll.
Go Pro 6
So technically I didn’t buy this but JP did treat me to a new Go Pro specifically for our honeymoon. I had a Go Pro Hero 3+ but we were really starting to notice how bad the quality was compared to other cameras. Wanting to be able to capture the Maldives at their best I was so pleased to get the new camera before we headed off.
What else would you buy for a honeymoon in the Maldives?
