Intentions I’m Setting for 2018

As I mentioned in my previous post I’m not big for goal setting but this year I wanted to set a few intentions for the new year. I briefly mentioned them in my new year post but I wanted to delve into them a little deeper here because once they are written down it makes them a little more real. Plus, once someone else has read them, they can help with a bit of accountability.

Intentions I’m Setting for 2018

Do yoga regularly

I’ve started the year by doing Yoga with Adriene’s 30 day journey and I’ve been feeling so much more relaxed and inspired because of it. Normally I would make excuses about not having time or feeling too tired to do yoga in the evenings. I really must make the effort to keep it up regularly each week for the rest of the year.

Make time for hobbies

This is something I didn’t do a very good job at for the latter part of 2017 so I want to make much more of an effort for ‘me’ time in 2018. I’ve already been setting aside a lot more time for working on this blog – watch this space there should be some exciting changes around here. I’d also like to make time for being creative, doing exercise, taking photos and just generally getting outdoors more.

Reply to people on Twitter and Instagram more

I’m quite an out spoken person but I can be shy sometimes even when hiding before my persona on the internet. Last year I held back commenting on people’s Twitter and Instagram because I thought they’d think I was being ‘too friendly’ or ‘noisy’ or ‘it wasn’t my place’. However, a key way to build my community for the blog is through engaging with other users on Twitter and Instagram so I’m gonna be doing more of that this year.

Make more effort with friends

I’m a little guilty of bailing on friends if I’m too tired or not quite feeling like myself. Even when I know that seeing friends will definitely perk me up. This year I’m going to make a lot more effort to see friends and have fun days out with them, especially now I live closer to a lot of my long time friends.

Declutter my belongings

After I went backpacking in 2013 I came home and decluttered a lot of my belongings. However, since then I seem to have gained a lot more belongings and barely have anywhere to put them! This year I plan on sorting through everything and getting rid of things I don’t use/wear/need. This will hopefully make my life feel less clutter. After all experiences are far better than belongings.

Find adventure at home as well as abroad

One thing I’ve always been terrible at (except when I lived in Scotland) is finding adventure on my doorstep. Now that I’m living back in the New Forest I really want to be getting out and exploring as much as possible. It is such a beautiful part of the world that I really want to share it with you guys. I’m going to block out time in my weekends to just head out and explore an area or town.

In 2016 I read a lot, I’d always have my head in a book and would read them so fast. Last year I barely read, I just seemed to never have time to pick up a book and trying to sustain interest to finish it was difficult. As a result my book shelf is over flowing and I have the biggest pile of amazing books I want to read this year. I find reading good for the soul and helps to relax me too. So this year I’m going to be making more of an effort to get through those books on my book shelf.

What are your intentions for 2018? Do you set resolutions?

Absolutely love the shoes wedding day shot! Setting intentions sounds a lot more thoughtful and achievable than standard resolutions – looking forward to hearing how you’re getting on.
