That is maybe a bit of a bold statement but one that is pretty true this new year.
I’m not into the whole setting massive resolutions in January, as a teacher September always seems a better time to set resolutions but this year there are some big changes for the start of 2018.
I start this year as a married woman. A Mrs rather than a Miss. I even have a new name to go with that title.
During my first day back at school, one of the children asked ‘who are you today?’. I hadn’t really thought of being any different now I’m married but I guess I am. Especially to a 7 year old child.
Being married sounds like I’m a grown up and it brings new responsibilities in a way. I want to work harder on my relationship. I want to be a good wife. I want to be more thoughtful to my husband.
I also want to get a better work life balance, something I’ve failed at since September and this little blog has suffered a lot because of it. My first step in fixing this has been to sign up for Sophie’s blogging course. I’m hoping a better work life balance will also mean I have time to reply to texts and talk to JP more, something that is so important in a long distance relationship.
One thing that won’t be changing in 2018 is my love for travel.
I of course have half the world on my bucket list but one trip I do have booked for this year will be a massive tick for me.
Honeymoon in the Maldives
We will be heading off on our honeymoon in April to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. We will be spending a night in Colombo on the way and then staying on the tip of the South Male atoll for 9 nights. I cannot wait.
February in Dubai
Before then I am also heading back to Dubai in February to see JP and hopefully explore some of the sand dunes outside of the city.
Europe in May
This one is still a little up in the air but we are hoping to head somewhere in the Med for May half term. Europe at that time of year is perfect and it will be nice to explore a city or get out on the water. Greece is definitely on the cards for this trip but Croatia has also been discussed.
The second half of the year is still in the planning stages but will probably be big and very different. Watch this space.
Good reads about 2018
I’ve read some brilliant blog posts about setting New Year intensions and not setting goals you’ll give up on in a week. Read them here:
