Happy Monday! Can you believe it is already the 4th December? Sorry this post is a little late, I’ve had a pretty manic week but the count down to Christmas is on. Just under three more weeks left of school and I can really get in to the swing of Christmas. Let’s get on to this month’s favourites.
This month I was treated to surprise girlie weekend with some of my favourites. This included an escape room experience, afternoon tea and spending the evening together in the most gorgeous house in the New Forest. We had such a fantatsic weekend just catching up and getting away from it all. We drank hot chocolate, decorated our faces in glitter and danced with sparkers in the rain. We had a lot of laughs and it was so nice to have all of my favourites in the same place. I cannot wait to see them all again later this month.
Escape Room Experience
I know I just mentioned this above but the escape room was so much fun. We went to Houdini’s in Southampton where the room is themed around Alcatraz. When we were first locked in we kinda all looked at each other and wondered what an earth we did next but within five minutes we were fully submerged in the mission to escape and get ourselves out. The staff at Houdini’s made our experience even better and thanks to their handy clues we escaped with 54 seconds to spare! I can’t say much more about the escape room without giving away the secrets but seriously if you are looking for a fun activity to do with friends I would highly suggest it.
Coca-Cola Truck and Christmas Markets
One thing that always symbolises Christmas to me is seeing the Coca-Cola advert on TV. This year I decided to go one better and actually get myself down to see the truck in real life. We spotted it in Southampton just as dark was setting in and the truck was glowing. The truck did have a huge queue for free coke and close up photos but by nipping round the front we were still able to get decent photos and soak up some of the atmosphere.
Whilst being in Southampton I also got to take in some of the German Christmas Market for the first time. The stalls were housed in little ‘shed’ type buildings while the bar seemed to be the main attraction featuring proper German beer glasses and some amazing smelling sausages. I always love a good Christmas Market so hoping to get to a few more this month.
Running a second Half Marathon of the year
For the second part of this year I have been on a running craze. I signed up for a half marathon in October and then on the back of that signed up for another in late November. Well that race was last weekend and I’m pleased to say I completed it in just over 2 hours. It was freezing temperatures and my knees were feeling a little sore so this certainly wasn’t my best time but given my lack of training I was still pretty pleased. I now have no more races booked but I’m hoping to get a few more runs in before the year is out.
This month seems to have flown by without a free weekend and although that has been annoying at times I have appreciated it too. Being in a long distance relationship again means that life isn’t without its challenges but keeping busy has meant that I haven’t had too much time to dwell on them. Thankfully this coming month JP will be home for two weeks so I’m looking forward to slowing down and spending some quality time together.
Last month I set a few goals for my month to help me make time for adventures but unfortunately my weekends ended up so busy I didn’t manage to fit in a trip to the seaside or a New Forest town. Maybe I’ll be able to achieve that this month.
How’s you November been? What are you looking forward to in December?
