#imabackpacker Competition
I was lucky enough to be chosen as a winner of Gapyear.com’s I’m A Backpacker competition, as I’m sure I have mentioned before. I spent a week of Feb in the land of sun to take part in the competition. We headed off to Australia, or more importantly the Gold Coast for an action packed week. The whole week was organised by the tourism board and Vicky from Gap Year who put together an awesome itinerary for us to experience everything the Gold Coast has to offer. It went a little like this…
Day 1: Jet Boating and Climbing the Q1 Skypoint
Day 2: Snorkelling and Paddleboard in Kingscliff NSW
Day 3: Binna Burra Lodge in the Lamington National Park
Day 4: Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary + Segway Tour
Day 5: Jellurgal Cultural Centre + Burleigh Brewing Co.
Day 6: Dreamworld and White Water World
Day 7 & 8: Free time and prize claiming – for me that was a skydive and stay at the Palazzo Versace
We took part in five tasks while we were away: video, interview, writing, photo and instagram. The Instagram and photo were done on votes, the interview and writing both judged by the Gap Year office and the video judged by the Gold Coast Tourism office. Overall the three of us contestants won two prizes each, for me that was the video contest (skydive) and the overall prize of being the best backpacker (stay at the Palazzo Versace).
I will be writing all about what I got up to in more detail over the next few weeks so for now here is a short video of my awesome week on the Gold Coast.
