Things I’m Loving Right Now // October Edition (#4)
I swear this year has suddenly gone in to fast forward mode. This month seems to have whizzed by in a blur of work, running and tiredness. My was I glad to get to the 20th of this month and officially complete my first half term as a teacher. Half term also meant I got to head out to Dubai see my boy and soak up some sunshine. Here are my favourites from the whole month.
I have been spending a small fortune on iTunes lately but with very good reason. There have been some amazing albums out from some of my favourite artists including Pink and Shania Twain, yes I’m a kid of the 90s. I’ve also found some great new artists including Walker Hayes, Klara, Russel Dickerson and I’m still waiting for the full release from my absolute favourite artist at the moment Kelsea Ballerini.
So I’m sorta working on a bit of a craft project at the moment and many weekends of this month have been spent trying and testing ideas and then putting a few into action. I’m super excited to see something I’ve been designing in my head for a while now start to come alive. I promise I’ll share more with you soon However, I think my parents will be glad when I finish destroying their clean house and stop taking over the spare room.
Seeing my uni girls and the importance of friendship
I’ll be the first to admit I’m a rubbish friend. I’m a bit of an introvert so I’m pretty quick to cancel on social engagements unless I’m feeling on top form. But this month I knew I’d have a good time once I got there that I forced myself into the car and onto the motorway to meet some of the girls from uni. Just catching up on all the gossip and being able to share the joys and stresses of work was exactly what I needed we have even pencilled another date in the diary.
That day was also a good reminder of the importance of making efforts with friendships. You never know when you might need them and keeping a friendship is definitely a two way thing. I’m certainly going to be trying harder in the future.
I’ve mentioned it above but it needs its own point too. I spent most of the month willing half term to arrive quicker. When others warned that the first half term of school would be the most exhausting they were not kidding. I will certainly be pacing myself better next term. Still half term meant a chance to hang out with my cousin for the day, see friends and of course head to Dubai to see JP.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi
I’ve headed back to the UAE for a few days to see my boy and it was lovely. This time we took a trip to Abu Dhabi and had a fantastic weekend. We explored Yas Island including Ferrari World, Yas Water World and stayed at the Yas Viceroy Hotel which goes above the track. My favourite part of the whole weekend was getting to visit the Grand Mosque. What an incredible building. We didn’t see or do as much in Dubai this time except have dinner on the Palm at a lovely place called The Beach House. As always the time we had together wasn’t long enough and we’re back to long distance for another eight weeks.
I’ve decided I need to start setting myself some goals for each month to help me make sure I’m not just working constantly. I need to make sure that I’m making the most of my weekends having adventures closer to home more often. I already had a surprise girls weekend booked this month but on top of that these are my goals…
- Visit the seaside
- Visit one New Forest town
- Complete my next half marathon in 2 hours (this is a very hilly one so not hoping for a PB)
